Figuring out the right Caption

Instagram, marketing, SEO, caption

Do you wake up in the morning and think: What am I going to post today??

Here’s a technique to help your content strategy on Instagram that we find very useful.

Think of your caption as a “Sandwich” with the following Ingredients:

The Hook

You only have 150 characters before IG cuts off your caption and displays the "more" link.

You need to grab people's attention and HOOK them in so that they tap the "more" link and read the rest of your caption.

Your hook should do one of the following:

  • Pique Interest

  • Trigger Emotion

  • Ask a Question

  • Act as a Title for the rest of your caption

  • Immediately bring someone into the story

  • Tell them to do something

Content with Value

Content = information, stories, facts.

Content with value = information, stories, facts that are beneficial to the person who consumes it

STORY TELL: take someone from point A to point B. Share a lesson, a journey, a result, and how it happened.

EDUCATE: teach your ideal client with actionable tips, tricks, hacks, tutorials.

PROBLEM SOLVE: zero in one your ideal client's pain point and provide a solution

MYTH BUST: talk about misconceptions/assumptions in a list format and give your opinion.

Bottom line, you have to ask yourself:

  • What is the goal of this caption/piece of content?

  • What is the purpose of us publishing this?

  • What is it that we want our ideal customer to feel or do?

CTA (Call to Action)

You need to prompt your community to engage and take action! Type of CTA's

  • Ask a question

  • Double tap

  • Tag a friend

  • Save this post

  • DM me

  • Head to my stories

  • Click the link in Bio

  • Swipe to see (blank) - if using a carrousel post

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
